THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS
The Magic Of Writing Children's Books
5 week writing workshop with Gloria Rothstein Wednesdays,
7:00 ~ 9:00 January 16th ~ February 13th

Bring your ideas, your questions, and your playful spirit to this hands-on workshop. Whether you're writing a mystery, a love story, or a read-aloud for bedtime, learn how action and dialogue move your story along. Talk about scene changes, page turns, and text layout. Have fun thinking in pictures and visualizing your children's book.

Speakers
Kirby Larson will speak on Characterization. Kirby won a 2007 Newbery Honor for her novel Hattie Big Sky. She is also the author of early chapter books and a picture book. She speaks and teaches often at conferences.

Ann Whitford Paul will speak on Poetry. Ann is the author of many picture books and easy readers. She teaches poetry at UCLA extension in Los Angeles. She has also spoken at many writer's conferences.

Helen Ketteman will speak on the Language of picture books. Helen is the author of many picture books, and has taught picture book writing at SMU extention in Dallas, TX. She has also spoken at numerous writer's conferences.

Mary Nethery will speak on plot and structure. Mary is the author of several picture books, and also several novels her agent is currently submitting. She has spoken at numerous conferences.
