The Illustrator Intensive Homework Assignment

Assignment: 3 to 4 spreads (6 or 8 facing pages) of finished art showing a narrative sequence with the same children and/or animals interacting in different (or related) settings. These scenes should show the development of a story through a variety of composition, moods, situations and settings while maintaining a consistency of style and character.

Attendees are advised that if they do not have the assignment on the day of the conference, they will be asked not to comment during the group critique.



You'll want to bring your favorite drawing pencil, eraser, pencil sharpener
and a small sketchbook.

Illustrators will want to bring their own sketchbook, drawing pencils, sharpener, and eraser.
A selection of color pencils, watercolor pencils, and art stix will be available for use on-site.

12:00 - 1:00 pm Janeen Mason lecture on supplementary funding sources for a long life in the Arts

1:45 - 3:30 Quick Draw with blank dummy book pages provided complete with text in place.
3:30 - 3:45 Break
3:45 - 4:45 Divide into groups for afternoon on-site assignment critique
4:45 - 5:15 Q & A with David Diaz and Janeen Mason
