The Picture Book Homework Assignment

part 1

Make a dummy of the story you are working on. Take 8 pages of typing paper. Fold in half top to bottom, cut along folded line, then staple the pages together. Number from 1 to 32, back and front. NOW starting on page 3, divide your text into picture scenes. Include the text connected with each scene on a single or double page spread. You don't have to draw any pictures. We are only concerned with the text.

part 2

Go to the library or the bookstore and find one fairly recent picture book of the type you want to write make sure it's one you like and make a dummy of the words in the book. Number the pages exactly as they are numbered in the book.
