PICTURE BOOK WRITERS/ILLUSTRATORS
Meeting Info: Meets once a month at the Ormond Beach Regional
Library, usually a Saturday at
10:30 am, date to be determined one month prior to meeting.

Open to New Members? Yes, at present time. Please contact

Focus: Picture book writing and illustrating. We bring copies of our
work to be read during the month and critiqued at the following meeting.
We are also open to reading aloud and sharing work in progress for
immediate feedback.

Meeting Info: The second and fourth Sundays of the month from 1 -
3 at the Ormond Beach Regional Library.
Members in Group: We have limited the group to 7 members to
enable all to share and read. At present we have six active with one
possible. Five of our members have been together since we started and
are still “going strong”.
Focus: All types of children’s literature, although MG and YA
seem to be our main focus. Half of our members have published. We bring
copies of our work in progress for all to read and critique - on a
positive note. We also share marketing information and other helpful
items - primarily being a cheering section for our members.

Group Name: POWER (Port Orange Writers
for Excellence in Reading)
Meeting Info:
The second and fourth Wednesday of the month from 9-11 at the Java
Junction in Port Orange.
Members in Group: We have eight active members and two more
who will be coming when we change from mornings to evenings. The
group is talented and interesting, as well as supportive. Five of
the present eight members have been published. Two are also
illustrators.
Focus: All types of children’s literature, but mostly books
for elementary and YA. Members bring works to critique. We share
information about current contests, publicity, publishing and
marketing information.
NEW SMYRNA BEACH/DELAND
Group Leader: Mimi Hall
Meeting Info: Meets once a month in a restaurant alternating
between DeLand and New Smyrna Beach.
Members in Group: 4 members with a cap at 5
Open to New Members? Potential members should be published or
bring a sample of work. Email for status.
The group prefers to remain small.
Focus: We critique each other's work, children's fiction and
non-fiction, all age groups.
