ILLUSTRATORS’ INTENSIVE

Join author/illustrators Jarrett Krosoczka and Janeen Mason for a one-day event intended for committed illustrators who wish to hone their craft through hands-on activities and discussion. You must register/pay for the Mid-Year Workshop as well as the separate fee (see Registration Form) in order to attend. Updates/homework at www.floridaillustrators.com.

2-DAY NOVEL REVISION INTENSIVE
June 19 - 20th (Fri/Sat) • 9 AM – 5 PM

*NEW!* Join associate publisher of Dutton Children’s Books, Julie Strauss-Gabel, and author, Suzanne Supplee, for a 2-day writing intensive focusing on the revision of middle grade and young adult novels. You must bring ONE completed novel manuscript to the event and will remain in the intensive for both days. Because this intensive takes place on June 19-20th, it REPLACES the Mid-Year Workshop and its fees (see Registration Form). Attendees will receive an email packet with more information and homework. MID-YEAR WORKSHOP
Sat., June 20th • 9 AM – 5 PM

This year’s workshop features 5 tracks:
Picture Book, Middle Grade, Young Adult, and *NEW!* Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Graphic Novels! Participants stay in one track all day for writing exercises, first page critiques, and market information for that genre. The tracks ensure small group interaction and a more focused learning environment.

FIRST PAGE CRITIQUES
Track leaders will select a few submissions to read aloud and critique. Bring the first page of your novel or picture book (double-spaced, 12 pt. type, 250 words or less, 1-page only to your workshop track. Include the title and genre but not your name or other personal information.

PAID CRITIQUES
Available to registered participants for an additional fee and limited to 4/person. Sorry, but we CANNOT honor requests for specific critiquers. SUBMISSIONS MUST BE POSTMARKED BY MAY 15, 2009!

Illustrators: bring artwork, portfolios, dummies to your workshop. Mail Critique Submission Form to Christina Gonzalez (see form for details) and fees/registration form to SCBWI FLORIDA (see Registration Form).
Writers include two (2) copies of your manuscript (up to 10 pages* in standard submission format**) with your Critique Submission Form and mail to Christina Gonzalez (see form for details). Mail fees/registration form to SCBWI FLORIDA (see Registration Form).

*Although a picture book may have fewer than ten pages, each separate story counts as a separate submission.
